Tree Care in Sahuarita, From Our Home Base
Sahuarita is where TIMBERx is based. It's where we keep our gear, and it's the community we know best. If you live here, your trees are close to home for us.
TIMBERx is a veteran-owned, residential-only tree care business run by Justin Tornatore, an ISA Certified Arborist. We help Sahuarita homeowners with everything from the young mesquite the builder planted out front to the big pecan shading the back of the lot. When you reach out, you deal with Justin directly, from the first look at your trees to the final cleanup.
Texting is the best way to reach us. Justin is often up in a tree and can't always pick up, but he'll text you back. Feel free to send a photo of the tree.
Tree Services for Sahuarita Homeowners
Tree pruning and trimming. Structural pruning for young trees, end-weight reduction for heavy mesquite limbs, clearance over roofs, walls and driveways, and deadwood removal. Learn more on our tree trimming page.
Tree removal. For trees that are dead, failing or planted in the wrong spot. We'll always talk with you first about whether the tree can be saved.
Tree health. If a tree is thinning, dropping limbs or just doesn't look right, Justin will look at the whole tree, including the root flare and how it's being watered, and explain what he sees.
Stump grinding. We grind the stump so you can replant or redo the landscaping.
Debris haul-away. We haul away the branches and wood from the job and leave your yard clean.
Consults and planting. Help choosing the right tree for the spot, and planting it so it gets off to a strong start.
See everything we offer on our Services page.
Young Trees in Newer Sahuarita Neighborhoods
Many Sahuarita homes are in newer master-planned neighborhoods such as Rancho Sahuarita, where builders put in fast-growing desert trees when the homes were built. Those trees are now hitting the stage where a little pruning goes a long way.
Fast-growing mesquites and palo verdes on drip irrigation often put on long, heavy limbs and grow several competing trunks. Left alone, that kind of growth is what tends to split in a monsoon storm. Light structural pruning while the tree is young is easier on the tree than fixing a big problem later. It sets up one strong framework and keeps the canopy in proportion to the trunk.
If your neighborhood has an HOA, check its landscape guidelines before you remove or replace a front-yard tree. Many associations have rules about what can be planted and where. We work for you, the homeowner, not for the association.
Mesquite, Palo Verde, Pecan and Other Sahuarita Trees
Mesquite. Velvet mesquite is native to this stretch of the Santa Cruz River valley, and mesquites of all kinds are common in local yards. Watered mesquites grow fast, so they benefit from regular structural pruning and end-weight reduction.
Palo verde. Blue, foothills and 'Desert Museum' palo verdes are everywhere in Sahuarita landscapes. They do best with small, careful cuts and deadwood removal, not heavy cutting.
Pecan. Sahuarita sits next to some of the best-known pecan orchards in Arizona, along the Santa Cruz River, and some homes have pecan trees of their own. Pecans get large, need plenty of water, and carry heavy, spreading limbs. Thoughtful pruning keeps them clear of the roof and lowers the risk of limb breakage.
Ironwood. A slow-growing desert native with very dense wood. It usually needs only light shaping, clearance and deadwood removal.
Desert willow. A popular small tree for patios, with trumpet-shaped flowers in the warm months. It tends to grow several stems and lean, so light pruning keeps it tidy and well balanced.
Getting Ready for Monsoon Season
Monsoon season in Southern Arizona starts in mid-June. Sahuarita's open valley can see strong gusts, dust and heavy downpours. Top-heavy trees and trees with weak, V-shaped unions are the ones most likely to drop limbs.
Late winter through spring is usually a good window for structural pruning, so trees are in shape before the storms arrive. If a large tree hangs over your house, driveway or a neighbor's wall, a pre-monsoon check is worth it. If a storm has already damaged a tree, text us a photo and we'll talk through next steps.
Planting the Right Tree in the Right Spot
A lot of tree problems start on planting day: a tree that will grow 30 feet wide planted 5 feet from the house, or a thirsty tree on a drip line meant for shrubs. If you're replacing a tree or starting a new yard, a consult can save you years of trouble. Justin can help you pick a tree that fits the space, the sun and your water use, and then plant it properly. If an old tree is coming out, we can remove it, grind the stump and get the spot ready for the new one.

Sahuarita Tree Care FAQ
Do you work in my part of Sahuarita?
Yes. We serve homeowners throughout Sahuarita. Since this is our home base, scheduling a visit here is usually straightforward.
My builder-planted tree is growing really fast. Does it need pruning?
Often, yes. Fast growth on drip irrigation can produce long, heavy limbs and competing trunks. Light structural pruning while the tree is young sets it up to handle monsoon winds much better.
Can you prune a pecan tree in a residential yard?
Yes. We prune pecans for structure, roof and wall clearance, and deadwood removal, the same careful way we prune desert trees.
What's the fastest way to reach you?
Text (520) 451-8790. Justin can't always answer the phone during a job, but he'll get back to you. A photo of the tree helps.
